BASINGSTOKE Town’s three game unbeaten run came to an end as they were beaten 3-0 at mid table rivals Redditch.

For the first 45 minutes the visitors were certainly in this contest and Callum Bunting had an early chance.

Town’s Sam Argent forced a save from Ethan Ross in the home goal and Sam Smart put the rebound wide.

The visitors were then awarded a penalty after Sam Smart was brought down by Lewis Wright, which Argent took and was saved by Ross as he dived to left.

Then right on half-time Town suffered a hammer blow as Stuart Fleetwood gave the home side the lead.

Just a minute after the interval, the Dragons found themselves 2-0 down after Adam Page fired home.

Soon after, Smart went close and then Redditch’s Fleetwood hit the crossbar.

Just past the hour mark, Ashley Sammons’ great strike from distance produced a great save from Colm McAdden.

Then in the 77th minute, the home side were awarded a penalty given away by Guri Demuria and Sammons made no mistake from the spot.

With seven minutes left in the contest, Redditch sub Edji Mbunga was dismissed for an off the ball incident, but despite being down to 10 men the home side saw out the game.

This Tuesday, Town are back in action when Stratford are the visitors to the Camrose.
