SUPER Sammy Argent scored five times as Basingstoke Town snapped their eight game winless away streak in the league, with a fine 6-0 at basement side Dunstable.

The home side welcomed back Michael Atkinson and Sam Deadfield to their starting line-up and took just eight minutes to take the lead.

Good work from George Bennett on the left wing, saw him find Argent who was fouled in the box. The striker dusted himself down and slotted home.

Town’s second goal was started by Deadfield and via a great ball from Sam Smart, he released Argent, who beat the home goalkeeper one-on-one.

The visitors continued dominate right up to the break, but were unable to add to their tally, with Jack McKnight going closest as he smashed a shot off the underside of the bar.

Seven minutes after the break, Town ended any hopes the home side had with a third goal from Bennett.

On 63 minutes, Town added a fourth with Tim Wolhfiel the provider, with a cross which is met by Argent for his hat-trick.

The visitors then had further chances from sub Callum Bunting and McKnight, before they added two more goals in the final five minutes, as Argent took his tally for the game to five and Town to six.

The striker twice finding himself with just the goalkeeper to beat and calmly slotting home both times.

On Tuesday night, the Dragons will hope to roar again, when they travel to Merthyr for their last away game of 2017.
