BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies turned on a five star performance as they beat visiting Exeter City 5-0.

They took the lead after 24 minutes as Kelly Rutledge flicked the ball behind the defence with her head for Helen Ogle to tuck the ball home.

Rutledge had a shot from the edge of the area which struck the post.

The Ladies doubled their advantage after 32 minutes, as Lauren Butler turned in midfield and put a through ball for Lindsey Beverley to run on and finish at the near post.

Six minutes later, it became 3-0 as some good footwork by Jenna Macbeth on the wing, she passed to Ogle to score.

Ten minutes after the break, Basingstoke attacked quickly and the Exeter goalkeeper pulled off a great save only for Macbeth to tap the ball in.

Town made it 5-0 on the 67 minute mark, as Beverley swung in a corner to Sarah Wentworth who finished at the near post.

Rutledge had a goal disallowed for offside and soon after the Exeter goalkeeper pulled off a great save to deny Beverley with a shot from the edge of the area.

Manager Rob Quilter said: "The girls played really well, controlling the game and scoring some great goals. Exeter made it difficult for us as they sat back defensively but we managed to create many goal scoring opportunities."

The Ladies wrapped up their first campaign in the Premier League with a visit from Plymouth Argyle on Sunday (2pm).
