BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies ended their Southern League Premier Division campaign on a winning note, claiming a 2-1 victory away at Parley Sports Ladies.

Lindsey Beverley had two early chances before she opened the scoring with an excellent shot from 30 yards that clipped the inside of the post before finding the back of the net.

Emily Edwards and Jemma Sharp had chances to increase the lead before the end of the first half, while visiting goalkeeper Erin Davis was called into serious action for the first time early in the second period, making a fine save to keep her side ahead.

Town doubled their lead on 66 minutes, Naomi Green scoring from Zoe Maylin’s pass, and while Parley pulled a goal back with 10 minutes to play, Basingstoke held on win the game.

Town sit second in the table having completed their fixtures, but several of the teams behind them still have games to play, so they could finish third or fourth.

The ladies still have one game to play, the Chairman’s Cup final against Fleet Town Ladies, which will be played at the home of Camberley Town on May 17.
