BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies romped to a 9-0 victory over visiting Newbury Town Ladies on Sunday, moving up to fourth place in the Southern League Premier Division as a result.

Charlie Fry opened the scoring after just seven minutes, converting Josette Pearmine’s through-ball, with Lianne Hill setting up Tracy Jones to double the lead three minutes later.

Justine Mosley made it 3-0 from Sam Mosley’s cross soon after – and it was another Sam Mosley cross that set up the fourth goal, Fry getting her second of the game with a header at the back post.

Hill doubled her tally for the afternoon on 37 minutes, firing home from just outside the area, with Sam Mosley completing the first-half scoring soon after, converting Jones’ cross.

Lindsey Beverley, one of three half-time substitutes for Town, made it 7-0 just minutes after entering the action, heading home Fry’s free-kick. Fry also set up the next goal, playing in Beverley for her second goal in the space of five minutes.

Sam Mosley got the final goal, firing home from outside the area in the last minute.

The ladies are in action again this weekend, hosting Oxford City Ladies knowing that a win would take them above their visitors and up to third place in the table.
