BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies’ FA Cup run ended at the first hurdle as they were beaten in the First Qualifying Round away at Poole Town Ladies on Sunday.
Poole’s Rebecca Miles scored twice in the first 18 minutes to put Town firmly on the back foot, but Justine Mosley converted Josette Pearmine’s pass to reduce the deficit soon after.
They were level before half-time, Lindsey Beverley out-jumping the goalkeeper to score, but parity did not last long as Miles completed her hat-trick early in the second half. Charlie Fry equalised for the visitors just after the hour and there was no further scoring inside 90 minutes, though Mosley did hit the post for Town.
Poole grabbed the winner in the second half of extra-time, Kirsty Steven beating Town goalkeeper Erin Davis.
Town return to league action on Sunday, travelling to Fleetlands Ladies.
l Rebecca Lee got the reserves’ goal as they lost 3-1 to Wilbrook Ladies Reserves. They host Bournemouth Sports Ladies this weekend.
