LAST weekend, we returned to winning ways with a very nervy 1-0 win over a very good Whitehawk side.

After a slow start, we grew into the game and adapted to the opposition, and a very good finish from Chris Flood meant that we went in at half-time in the lead – the first time for a few weeks we have been in that position.

In the second half, we had a couple of half-chances but when Whitehawk were reduced to 10 and then nine men, we didn’t manage the game as well as we all would have hoped.

Having said that, we had three or four golden opportunities to kill the game off, while they were largely restricted to efforts from outside the box.

It was important to get the win and that’s what we got.

Unfortunately, Tuesday’s game was postponed due to Weston-super-Mare being involved in an FA Trophy replay.

That fixture has now been rearranged for January.

We have some very tough games coming up, starting this Saturday against Sutton United.

Sutton are a side who, despite their current league position, are a fantastic team, and they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

They have the ability to cause teams problems and will be a really tough test for us.

The academy game was postponed last week.

This week, the squad faced a Chelsea development squad in the Tactic League and Highmore Ibis in the Tactic League Cup.
