IT IS  still early days yet in most divisions with teams only having played one or two matches, the divisions of the Basingstoke and District League are starting to take shape.

In Men’s Division One, Andover A started by winning their first 3 matches, 7-1 against RSF A and Winchester A, along with 6-2 over Kintbury.

However, Andover did go down 8-0 in their fourth match at Old Basing A who had also beaten Winchester by the same score.

Jamie Thomas/James Chamberlain and Phil Dixon/Ben Wilshire made up their teams in both wins.

Kingsclere A beat Goodworth Clatford 7-1 with Daniel Cole/Nigel Baker winning all their sets and then Goodworth beat Hampshire Court A 5-3.

The Andover B lead Division Two with three wins and one loss.

They have beaten Oakley A 8-0, RSF B 7-1 and Overton 5-3 with their loss being against Totally Tennis A.

Overton have also got off to a good start winning 5-3 against Oakley A and 6-2 over Odiham A with Kieran Heighes/Steve Wincott winning all their sets.

They also had a draw at Aldermaston. Both Totally Tennis A and Beechdown A appear to be the teams to beat though after they both secured two wins each in their opening matches.

The Totally Tennis team beat Oakley A and Andover B 8-0 with a team of Simon James/Alex Dawson and Rex Groves/James McIntosh winning against Andover.

Meanwhile, Beechdown have won against Aldermaston 5-3 and Waverley A 7-1 with Tom Perkins/Hoss Ashraf being unbeaten in the Waverley match.

Odiham A beat Aldermaston 5-3 and Waverley beat Odiham A 5-3.

In Division Three, Preston Candover have started well with two 5-3 wins and two draws.

Their wins were against Old Basing B, Dogal Kerr and Iain Miller winning their sets and Waverley B with Shaun Fennell/Steve Grove getting a maximum.

The draws were against Mortimer A and BDH. Totally Tennis B have beaten BDH 8-0 and Odiham B 6-2 and drawn with Beechdown B.

Their team against BDH was made up of Rex Groves/Chris Farrer and Alberto Vinuales/Fabio Ronchi.

Odiham B beat Waverley B 5-3 but then lost by the same score to BDH. Waverley B beat Oakley B 7-1 with John McKay/Tim Clist getting a maximum and the Old Basing B team of Del Salter/Harry Loake and Andrew Mountford/Clive Mountford beat Mortimer 8-0.

In Division Four newcomers Penton Mewsey are the leaders after two wins and a draw.

Despite a maximum from Steve Preston/Anthony Haffey for Hook, the Penton team came away with a good draw.

Beechdown C have a win, a draw and a loss to their team after three matches.

The win was 5-3 against Hook, the draw at Oakley C, thanks to a maximum from Trevor Fraser/Mark Goffin and the loss 8-0 at Andover C with the home side made up of Rob and Will Moon and Jon and Tom Lee.

Hampshire Court B drew with Kingsclere and lost 5-3 at Sherborne, Mike Chapman/Spencer Ino-Lewis winning all their sets for the home team.
