THE pressure is on Rob Collard this weekend after both his sons Ricky and Jordan opened their seasons on the track with podium finishes.

This weekend dad is back in action in the opening round of the British Touring Car Championships at Brand Hatch and he cannot wait to try and add to the families trophy collection so far.

Rob Collard said: “I have two nice big trophies on the kitchen worktop won by the boys, so it would be nice to go and get one for myself. At the moment they have the bagging rights in the family.

The West Surrey Racing outfit once again look set to be the team to beat with Collard, Colin Turkington and Andrew Jordan making up a formidable line-up.

Collard added: “I am really looking forward to the season and the BMW has been going really well in testing. I really think there will be strong competition from within the team, but there are 20 drivers on the grid capable of winning a BTCC race this season. I think it is going to be my toughest year yet.”

Last season Collard opened with podium at Brands Hatch with a second in the second race.

His sons Ricky and Jordan will be supporting this weekend, while last weekend Rob was watched on as Jordan had a superb debut in the Mini Challenge series claiming pole position in the first race.

He led for the first three laps, before sliding down to fourth, but recovered to finish second behind Ant Wharton-Eales. Bad weather saw the second race cancelled.

Ricky, only got the call on Thursday to race in a BMW M4 GT4 for the Century Motorsport team which was also at Oulton. Along with Jack Mitchell they qualified the car third in their class and brought the car home third. The second race was abandoned due to heavy rain.

l All the BTTCC will be shown live on ITV4 from 10.15am to 6.20pm on Sunday.
