CHINEHAM saloon car racer Chris Mohan is currently working really hard to secure the budget to race in the Renault Clio Cup UK this summer.

This is one of the support races for the top saloon car championship in the country - the British Touring Car Championships (BTCC).

It is a race against time as the championship starts on the first weekend of April at Brands Hatch.

It then visits all the top tracks in the country including Thruxton in early May as well as the likes of Silverstone and Donington Park.

The Chineham racer is hoping to build on a very successful campaign in 2016 with his family run team Chris Mohan Racing (CMR) Last year, CMR wanted a change and decided switch from the VAG Trophy Championship to the Bilstein Classic VW Cup Championship which is part of the Classic Touring Car Championship.

Still racing the reliable and race winning mk4 Golf GTI which he saw him win the VAG Trophy Championship.

There he achieved 11 race wins and 100 per cent reliability from the car and race finishes.

Last season proved just as successful, as he climbed the championship table.

Even though Mohan was in class B of the championship, he managed to rack up more points than the faster class A cars to win the championship outright.

This made him the 2016 Bilstein Classic VW Cup Champion.

Due to his success, Mohan along with his father Tom Mohan were invited to the prestigious BARC Champions Award night to pick up his trophies.

He now wants to carry on this success in the Renault Clio Cup.

To make this happen he is looking for sponsorship and close to achieving the funds, he just has the damage costs and registration/entry fees to attain.

If any local sponsors would be interested in joining Mohan's adventure and experiencing being part of the very exciting BTCC stage.
