KENNET Osprey’s silver fish match at Watmore Farm saw Tomasz Wojcik top out with 17lb of roach on the long pole and caster.

Steve Shepherd used long pole and maggot for his 11lb 7oz, (top two) Terry Bowles caught 8lb 10oz on caster with Mark Parson on 8lb 9oz. Seventeen fished and caught.

Adventure AS travelled to Panshill Park near Oxford for their latest foray and Dave Stratford-Way won it with 60lb 12oz of carp on pole and pellet, Mike Allen used the same method for his 59lb 4oz as did Graham Spiller and Graham Shadwell for their 41lb 6oz. Fifteen fished and weighed.

Camrose AC were at Old Barlows Lake for their match last Sunday and in form Colin Thomas won the event with 26lb of carp on pole and maggot, Pete Morris netted 12lb for second spot, followed by Adrian Bartle on 11lb with Brian Orchard next with 9lb 11oz. Fourteen fished and caught (Paul Bassinder only just).

Basingstoke Railway Club went to Cheriton Farm where Rob Carr (superstar) sorted it with 46lb 12oz of carp on pole, maggot and meat, Keith Brown’s 37lb was an all maggot affair whilst I fished caster and meat for 26lb 8oz. Ten fished and weighed.

Oxoid’s match at Whitehouse Lake was won by George Coomber who caught 18lb of carp on pole and pellet, Pete Matthews made second spot on 10lb 14oz with Del Baulsom on 9lb 8oz. Nine fished and caught I went to Duncan King’s funeral on Wednesday last, not a name that a lot of todays anglers would know, but in the mid to late seventies he captained The Basingstoke Kingfishers Junior Team that won the prestigious R & D A A Junior Annual Team Match and other representative events.

Some of his former team mates were at the funeral and reminisced about him being an all round good egg, but alas work, girls and golf took him away from angling, which was a loss to our sport, Duncan left us prematurely at 55 years rest in peace.
