THERE was no cup upset for Tadley Calleva when they took on Wessex Premier League highflyers Blackfield & Langley in the Hampshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

Calleva were behind against their higher league opponents after just 15 minutes, when Connor Doe put the visitors in front.

Despite holding out and trying to find a way back into the game, the visitors extended their lead in the second half, when Sam Poole fired Blackfield into the quarter finals of the cup.

In league action, Tadley moved to within a point of table topping Andover New Street, claiming a 2-0 victory on the road at AFC Stoneham.

Calleva made sure they had the upper hand early, scoring both goals in the opening 11 minutes.

Paul Coventry returned from a three-match suspension to give the visitors the lead after just two minutes, and nine minutes later Tadley were celebrating again when Brett Denham doubled the lead.

It was a battle to hold on to the lead for the remaining 79 minutes, but Tadley came away with the three points.

Elsewhere in the Sydenham’s Wessex League Division One, Whitchurch United slumped to their third straight defeat, conceding a stoppage time winner to hosts Laverstock & Ford.

Lewis Wykes’ header on 93 minutes was enough to see the Jam Boys see a point slip from their grasp.

There was more misery for the Jam Boys as they lost to Wessex League Division One table toppers Andover New Street, losing 4-2.

Corey Cherrett and Josh Smith got on the scoresheet for the visitors, but it was goals from Jazz Beavis, Shane Lock, Zach Neve and substitute Wade

Crisp was too much for Whitchurch.

Overton went crashing out of the Hampshire Intermediate Cup when they travelled to Montefiore Halls.

The hosts walked away 2-0 winners breaking United’s recent good run of results.

AFC Aldermaston could only manage a draw on the road against Wallingford Town, despite taking the lead. Captain Tom Etheridge put the Atom Men in front, but the hosts managed to pull level from a penalty on 63 minutes.

Jack McLaughlin converted the spot-kick leaving Aldermaston coming away with a 1-1 draw.
