TADLEY Calleva manager Danny Dolan had a roller coaster ride of emotions, as his side won their season opener 4-2, against visiting US Portsmouth in the Wessex League Division One.
The visitors started much better and soon led 2-0 leaving the home side very much up against it.
Tadley pulled a goal back as George Hallahan fed Dan Walker, before the break.
Some nice nice link-up play between Hallahan and Brett Denham saw Hallahan’s shot only parred and Archie Fawcett followed up to score.
At 2-2, Tadley lost their goalkeeper Kieran Greene to a dead long and centre-half Scott Kinge had to don the gloves.
He went on to keep a clean sheet for his side, while up the other end his team mates scored twice more.
Denham gave Tadley the lead with a superb 25 yarder into the top corner to make it 3-2.
The goal score then combined with Daryll Phillips, before feeding Hallahan, who beat the centre-half and then the Pompey goalkeeper to complete a super comeback.
After the game Dolan said: “I think this win showed great character from the players.
"Maybe winning the six pre-season games did not help at the start, but once we found our feet it was a great win.”
Next for Tadley is a trip to Hythe and Dibden on Saturday, with Shaun Dallimore and Danny Vickers expected to be added to the squad.
