HARTLEY Wintney skipper Danny Plume is keen for his side to carry on their winning ways when St Cross II visit this Saturday.

Last weekend they opened their Southern League Division Two campaign away at Sparsholt with a two wicket win.

Plume said: "It ended a little closer than it should have, but it was good to start with a victory. The Teale brothers bowling tantrum looked good and Henry Collier looks an excellent signing.

"This weekend we will be without Scott Baldwin, Rhys Batcup and James Beckwith so our bowling attack will loo a lot different and we know St Cross will bring a good team so it will not be easy.

Last Saturday, Sparsholt won the toss and elected to bat and Rhys Batcup (2-12) struck early on.

The home side found it tough going and looked in big trouble at 93-7.

This was thanks mostly to Jamie Teale (3-34) backed up well by Scott Baldwin (1-28) from 10 overs and Henry Collier (2-24).

Jeremy Frith with a run-a-ball 35 helped to give his side some hope as in the end they were bowled out for 149.

Hartley’s reply was build around a century second wicket stand between Plume (17) and Collier.

Overseas star Collier in his league debut hit a superb 79 from 77 balls which included 11 fours and two sixes.

Sparsholt's Frith (6-21) tried his hardest to win his side the game, as Hartley found themselves on 141-8.

It was left to James Beckwith who smashed the final six of the game along with Ben Hyde to make sure of victory with 10 overs to spare.
