BIG games continue to come thick and fast for the Basingstoke Bison in their quest to win the club’s third league crown.

The title is now down to a two horse race with the Peterborough Phantoms, who like the Herd have 48 points, but have played one more game.

The Bison have just five league games left starting with a visit from the Swindon Wildcats on Saturday (6.30pm) and then on Sunday (6pm) they are away at the Bracknell Bees.

The third game in the series is a mouth watering top of the table clash at Peterborough on Sunday March 4. The Herd will then complete their league campaign with a home game against Invicta on Saturday March 10 and an away trip to the Cardiff Fire a day later.

Peterborough have four games left, starting with just one outing this weekend, which is their final away game on Sunday at the London Raiders.

They then face London again at home on Saturday March 3, before the big Bison clash.

Their final game is at home to Streatham on March 10.

So the title looks set to go all the way to the wire and Bison need to keep on winning and in a visit from third placed Swindon on Saturday, they will be tested to the full.

The Herd are hoping defenceman Dan Scott will be back.

Then on Sunday a trip to the Hive is always a real battle, but the Bison will be hoping to repeat last weekend’s 5-2 success on home ice.

Head coach Doug Sheppard said: “We have to keep on winning and every game is big at the moment. We know both Swindon and Bracknell will prove to be stiff opposition, but we are playing well and hope to continue this.”
