WE WERE pleased this season to welcome Sherfield School as our title partners.

We’ve always known at Bison how important sport was in all our lives and that as many young people as possible should have the opportunity to experience the sport of ice hockey.

Last Saturday our mascot for the night was young Scott Benwell.

He’s hoping to get to Ontario later this year to take part in a hockey tournament for players with additional needs so we were pleased to try to raise money for him.

We wish him well as he tries to raise the £3,000 he needs to make the trip.

I knew Bracknell were short of several players because of injuries, so I took the opportunity to rest a few of our players carrying niggles and give a couple of local lads, Paul Petts and Kyle Goddard, from our junior programme their first taste of EPL hockey.

It was another young man who took the man of the match award.

Ivan Antonov is combining studies during the week with playing for Bison and his style of play has won him a lot of fans this season.

He’s already been away with the National team and is looking forward, with Stuart Mogg, to representing the British Universities in an upcoming tournament. We wish them both well.

Winchester University, of course, have been important and generous sponsors for a number of years.

Tom Karpov hopes to complete his Bachelor degree this year. As part of his studies, he’s looking at the relationship between the club and the fans. This weekend he’s putting out a questionnaire and hoping as many people as possible fill it out during our game against Hull.

I’m looking forward to hearing about your responses.

See you Saturday. We want to keep on winning.
