THE Basingstoke Bison Ladies earned an important 6-3 away win as they travelled to the Skydome in Coventry to take on the Phoenix.

The visitors were so short benched that their number one netminder Kat Robinson played up front and they opened the scoring at 9:27, as Tanya Bone scored assisted by Jodie Attrill and Dee West.

Bison captain Attrill then put the Bison two goals to the good from Bone.

However, the home team then picked up a vital goal just 30 seconds later as Victoria Brentville scored on the rebound.

As the Coventry team were pushing forward for an equaliser this left gaps, some quick passing between Bone and Attrill ended with the Bison captain netting her second.

The Bison then extended their lead with only 10 seconds left in the first period, when Philippa Steele finished a smart move with assists going to Mickey Walker and Kay Carrington-Fisher.

Bison Ladies started the second session strong and with four minutes gone the away team scored their fifth.

A pass from Carrington-Fisher somehow eluded the Phoenix netminder and Walker was on hand to score.

Coventry started the final period brightly and scored a powerplay goal, after Rosaline Adey hitting the top shelf past netminder Geraldine Park.

The third period was very end to end with the away team tiring due to their short bench, Phoenix captain Jennifer Adams slotted one neatly past the Bison goalie to close the gap.

The final goal came when Hannah Driver passed to Elise Willoughby who fired the puck through traffic to seal a 6-3 road win and maintain the number one spot in the Women Division One South.
