BASINGSTOKE Town manager Jason Bristow is facing a fresh injury crisis ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup trip to Dorchester Town.

The Camrose club look set to be without at least four players for the journey to Dorset (kick-off 3pm), with another two facing a race against time to be fit for the game.

Midfielders Stuart Lake (broken toe) and Jide Ogunbote (leg) remain on the sidelines, while Shaun McAuley is also set to miss out after suffering a suspected broken or dislocated toe.

Central defender Ross Adams missed Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Bromley after picking up a knee injury at Billericay. He will also miss the Dorchester game and may need a scan to establish the extent of the problem.

In addition, striker Jordace Holder-Spooner is a doubt due to a hamstring injury, while midfielder Wes Daly, pictured right, was forced off towards the end of the Bromley game with a similar problem and may also miss out.

If all six fail to prove their fitness before Saturday, Bristow will be left with just 14 fit outfield players, including untried youngsters Alex Charlick and Kieran Maylan.

The Town boss said: “It’s frustrating at the moment because as soon as we get one player back we seem to lose two more – but that is football.

“We may look to bring people in but a lot of clubs will not want their players cup tied. “If a few of the injuries are going to keep players out for two or three weeks then we might have to bring some players in though.”

Dorchester have made a brilliant start to the season. They sit second in the table and have won all five of their home games so far, beating the likes of Welling, Chelmsford and Eastleigh at The Avenue.

Boss Phil Simkin was named the Blue Square Bet South manager of the month after leading his side to five victories in September – but they were brought down to earth by leaders Salisbury on Tuesday, losing 4-0 in Wiltshire.

Bristow said: “It’s a game we go in to knowing that it’s going to be tough. They have had some excellent results at home, are flying high in the league, and are going to be |hurting after losing to Salisbury.”

Town sit 10th in the table after drawing 1-1 at home to Bromley on Tuesday night – and Bristow insists that Saturday’s FA Cup tie (kick-off 3pm) is of high importance to his side.

“It’s an important game for us from every point of view,” he said. “From a confidence standpoint, we are two unbeaten now and want to keep it going, while financially it is important for the club.

“On top of that, everyone wants to progress as far as we can in the FA Cup. We want to get the chance to play against a really big club further down the line.”
