BASINGSTOKE tennis ace Josh Goodall won his fifth singles title of the season as he claimed success in the Men’s Irish Open in Dublin.
The British number four came from behind to beat Spainard Jamie Pulgar-Garcia, winning a three set battle 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
He followed that up with victory over Dutch qualifier David Pel, winning a first set tie-break 7-2 and then taking the second 6-3 with one break of serve.
That set up a quarter-final clash with fellow Brit Dan Cox, which Goodall won 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 despite losing the opening set.
In the last four he beat local player James McGee a lot more comfortably 6-4, 6-4 to set up a final against Australian Michael Look.
The opening set was a close encounter that Basingstoke-born Goodall won thanks to an 8-6 win in the tie-break.
The second set was also close, with the Brit coming out on top 6-4 to claim another singles title for the year.
