TADLEY boxer Archie Hutchins fought for England against Scotland at Crystal Palace Football Club last week.
Hutchins faced a tough opponent in Grant Quigley, a Youth Commonwealth Games champion, in a 75 kg bout.
The fight was over three three-minute rounds and Hutchins came out very strong in the first round, throwing nice straight shots and pushing Quigley's head back on several occasions.
He also showed great defensive skills, moving away and blocking many shots.
The second round was much the same, with most of the quality coming from Hutchins and by the end of the second round he was 9-6 up on points.
At the start of the final round the Scot came out very quickly and threw shots to the head and body of Hutchins, but the Tadley fighter stuck to his game and continued to put together good combinations.
However, because of the Scots work rate, he managed to draw level at 12-12 by the end of the third round.
That then meant the decision had to be made by count back, in favour of the fighter who threw the most punches, which meant Quigley just got the decision.
Regardless of the final result, Hutchins showed great boxing skill and ability and will hopefully be back in an England vest very soon.
