FC CENSO were crowned Basingstoke and District League Premier Division champions on Monday evening without kicking a ball in anger.

This was after their closest rivals Basingstoke Royals lost 4-1 at Basingstoke Rangers.

Playing twice a week and having two hour cup finals finally caught up with the Royals’ small squad.

They have now decided to cancel their two remaining matches against Censo, which were due to be played last night and on Saturday.

This has upset the league’s plans to present the Premier Division Championship trophy and efforts are now being made for it to take place on Saturday, when it is hoped Censo will play their remaining fixture at Tadley Calleva A, which was postponed on Monday night.

In Monday night’s game between Basingstoke Rangers and Basingstoke Royals it was Dave Oliver who gave Rangers the lead after a minute when he put away a penalty after Gorton Birch was fouled.

Chris Young doubled the advantage from a Mark Oram cut back and on 30 minutes a bullet shot from Oliver made it 3-0.

By the break Royals conceded again when Simon Harrison sprinted past the Royals back four to make it 4-0.

Paul Oliver had plenty to do in the Rangers goal, but goals did not come and it was sub Richard Munday who came on late in the game with their lone reply.

By Saturday all three |divisions should be decided, weather permitting.

Tron played Sherfield played last night and victory would have given Tron the Division One title.

If they lost, Heathpark will take the title, with Chineham Albion ending up second.

On Saturday, AFC Aldermaston A entertain MFC Popley in the Division Two decider and Popley must win or Kingsclere Reserves will be crowned champions.

The kick-off time for this match has been brought forward to 10.30 am due to the FA Cup final.
