FC CENSO need just one win from their last three games to be crowned Basingstoke and District League Premier Division champions after beating a below-strength New Inn 4-2 on Saturday.

The wedding of New Inn regular Kieron Challis meant that his side played with only 10 men for the first 30 minutes and manager Dean Sawyer was even forced to play.

Censo had Matt Bennett in their line-up and the Whitchurch United winger gave them a 15th minute lead, while Luke Richardson hit the bar as the visitors piled on the pressure. A second goal duly arrived on 35 minutes, Lee Chambers heading home a Josh Basham corner kick at the far post.

New Inn improved as they were restored to a full complement for the second half and when Jon Flanagan gave the ball away in midfield John Cleary, who was prominent, played through for Wayne Finn to round Dean Mahoney and reduce the arrears.

The comeback did not last long though as a shot from Ricky Vine deflected in off Andy Davis to make it 3-1 – and Vine scored again soon after, this time beating Sawyer, who had just made a good save from Richardson.

New Inn kept battling and a cross from Colin Davis was fumbled into the net by Mahoney for their second.
