JASON Bristow says that his Basingstoke Town side are full of confidence going into their Blue Square Bet South play-off semi-final against Dartford.

The Dragons are breathing fire at the moment, having lost just one and won eight of their last 11 to climb into the play-off places – and manager Bristow says they fear nobody.

“We have got great momentum from a great run,” he said. “Only Woking have made us look ordinary in that time and they have won the league so we are full of confidence going into the play-offs.

“We do not care who we face, it is just another game for us. That is how we have approached every game, taking one at a time – and look where it has got us.”

Despite Town’s excellent form, Dartford will go into the tie as favourites, having finished second in the final table with an impressive 88 points.

They have lost just one of their last 15 games and had the luxury of rotating their squad in recent weeks, resting key players ahead of the play-off campaign.

Honours were shared between the sides during the regular season, with Town winning a pulsating game 3-2 at the Camrose in September but losing 4-1 in Kent later in the season.

However, the defeat at Dartford was Bristow’s second game in charge of Basingstoke – and much has changed since then.

“We owe Dartford one after that game a couple of months ago,” the Town boss added. “We know that we are a better and more organised side than we were then.

“We played okay for the first half an hour but then Delano Sam-Yorke went off injured and the game changed completely. They are a good side but I expect us to give them far more of a game now.”

The first leg will take place at the Camrose on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm), with the return fixture being played in Kent next Sunday. However, away goals will not be a factor, with the tie being decided by extra-time and penalties if the scores are level at the end of the second leg.

Basingstoke will be without suspended defender Ross Adams for the first leg, while Jide Ogunbote is a major doubt after being taken to hospital with concussion after just 17 minutes of Saturday’s trip to Welling. The midfielder was allowed to return home later in the day but is unlikely to recover in time to play on Wednesday.

Despite this, Town are expected to retain the 3-5-2 formation that has served them so well under Bristow. Stuart Lake will return after suspension and is likely to replace Ogunbote in midfield, while Steven Old is set to deputise for Adams.

Bristow’s only other injury concern is over wing-back Matt Warner, who has a sore knee. He is expected to be fit but Town do have a ready made replacement in Toby Little.
