The final period saw Gibson net his second, before the Bison scored twice in a minute from Chris Wiggins and Mindy Kieras tie the game.
The Bison then took the lead as Long scored his second, only for Scott Morris to make it 4-4.
Then in the final minute of the game, man-of-the-match Long grabbed his hat-trick goal to make sure of the Basingstoke win.
