DEAN ROONEY was the AFC Berg hat-trick hero as they easily outgunned a declining Tonic Bar to secure a quarter-final place in the Bernard Cornish Cup last Sunday.
Fast-improving Chineham will be their opponents next week, after a fine 4-1 home win against Dayers Fine Foods.
Matt Kempson netted a brace to accompany singles from Finlay Thompson and James Harvey, while Steve Cooper reduced the deficit for the visitors.
Chineham’s efforts are bearing promising buds after they started the season so poorly and endured a barren three-month period without a single point to sustain their undoubted enthusiasm.
Since then, they have just lost once and now look forward to contesting two cup quarter-finals in the consecutive weeks.
