KURT Reynolds may not have scored on Saturday night, but he played a vital role in the Bison’s 8-5 victory over the Bracknell Bees.

The British defenceman was given the role to mark Bracknell hotshot Jaroslav Cesky out of the game in the last 40 minutes after the Czech import had grabbed a first period hat-trick.

That proved a master stroke as the lethal finisher was kept off the score sheet for the rest of the game and the Herd went onto to win.

Moria said: “After the first period we knew we had to stop Cesky, but that is not easy as he is an exceptional hockey player. We gave Kurt the job to close him down and he did that really well, forcing Cesky to swap wings and play down the centre to try an make some space for himself.”

Another British player to earn praise from the player/coach was power forward Chris Wiggins.

He started the game playing on the all Brit line, but a re-shuffle of the forward lines saw him join Joe Ciccarello and Steve Moria and he scored twice in the second period goal fest – including the equalising goal.

Moria said: “Chris took his goals well and he has a presence out on the ice. He makes the big hits and you always notice him out there.”

The second period also saw the big scoring line of Ondrej Lauko, Nicky Chinn and Ollie Bronnimann reunited – and Moria was pleased to see them grab a couple of goals as Bronnimann continued his recent scoring run.
