BASINGSTOKE Town drew 1-1 with Sutton in their opening pre-season game at the Camrose on Saturday.
After a bright start, the first half descended into a dull affair, though Town had the better chances.
New signing David Pratt should have put the home side ahead just after the break, shooting into the side netting after taking the ball around the ’keeper, and it was Sutton who took the lead 67 minutes in.
Matt Finlay brought Matt Hann down in the area and Kenny Boeney sent Chris Waller the wrong way from the penalty spot.
Town improved after this and equalised with three minutes to go, Jason Goodliffe flicking the ball past his own 'keeper at the near post.
