THE BASINGSTOKE Bison have welcomed back one of their long standing sponsors for another season, after Grosvenor Carpets agreed once again to be the puck sponsors for the coming season.

During an ice hockey match the puck occasionally ends up in seats and the fan who claims it can take it home as a match souvenir, hence the need for a sponsor.

The successful business based on the Moniton Estate has been supplying and fitting all forms of floor covering throughout Basingstoke and Southern England since 1974.

In ice hockey terms, the company can trace its links with the town’s ice hockey team right back to their first season in 1988/89 and ever since.

All sporting teams rely on sponsorship and Bison player/coach Steve Moria is delighted that Roy Allum and Grosvenor Carpets are back on board for another year.

Moria said: “It is great that Roy (Allum) has shown great dedication to the sport of ice hockey over so many years and we are very pleased he is back on board again for this season.”

Allum, co-owner of Grosvenor Carpets, said: “I think this season is going to be a really exciting one for the team. I am really looking forward to it especially as we have so many local derbies.”

He added: “For us as a business, it is great to be involved with the Bison as they are the best supported team in the town.”
