Hook FC recognised with Hampshire FA Fair Play Award

The club was honoured with a Fair Play Award by the Hampshire FA for its youth team section during a ceremony on Saturday, August 1 at the Hilton Southampton - Utilita Bowl.

It was chosen from nearly 1,200 registered youth clubs across the county.

Matthew Pounder, chairman of Hook FC, said: "We want football to be enjoyable, respectful and inclusive for every player, coach, volunteer and supporter.

"As we prepare for another exciting season, we are continuing to grow every year.

"More local children are playing football than ever before, and we are determined to make the game accessible to everyone."

The club has grown to nearly 50 teams and is the largest community sports organisation in Hook, offering regular sporting opportunities for more than 600 children and young people.

It is supported by more than 100 volunteers in coaching and administrative roles.

Hook FC also offers pan-disability sessions, part of its broader goal to make the sport accessible to all regardless of ability.

In addition to the club award, Polly Roberts from Hook FC received an individual honour for her contribution to the development of girls' football.

Matthew said: "We're equally proud to see Polly recognised for everything she has done to grow girls' football.

"Her award is thoroughly deserved and reflects the dedication of so many volunteers who make community sport possible."

Despite its success, the club faces ongoing challenges due to the lack of a permanent home.

Currently, Hook FC operates across more than nine different locations as no single site can accommodate all its teams.

The club is hopeful that the North East Hook (NEH) multi-sport facility will become available in the coming season, providing a central base to support future growth.

"With another season about to begin, the club looks forward to welcoming even more players and families while continuing to champion fair play, inclusion and opportunity for everyone."
