JUSTIN Rose rounded off a fine Ryder Cup debut with an impressive singles win over world number two Phil Mickelson - but his efforts were not enough to prevent Europe losing to America.
Having already won two of his three matches teaming up with close friend Ian Poulter in Kentucky, the north Hampshire golfer gave Mickelson little chance, losing just one hole on his way to a 3 and 2 victory.
However, Rose's teammates were unable to match his heroics, as Europe went down 16 to 11 to lose the cup for the first time in eight years.
