TEENAGE Basingstoke Bison forward Cameron Wynn has been selected to represent England under-14s in tournaments in Canada and Latvia.

The 13-year-old from Kempshott is heading for Oakville, Toronto, in December, and then at Easter he will again pull on an England shirt to play in Latvia.

The Bishop Challoner School pupil made the final national squad after recently attending the English Ice Hockey Association school of excellence.

This was made up of players selected to play in the Conference tournament earlier in the year. Wynn was from the South West Conference under-13 team.

The teenager has spent all his career at Basingstoke and he started playing at the age of eight, moving up through the ranks from the under-10 Bison.

Last season, he bagged 13 goals in a 24-point haul for the under-14 Bison and also played a num-ber of games for the promotion-winning under-16 team.

Most of the current top British players started their international careers playing for England under-14s and the teenager is delighted to have been selected.

He said: "I felt I did well at the school of excellence, but I did not know I had been selected until the letter arrived.

"It was a great thrill to find I had made the team and I can't wait to go to Canada as that will be my first time and it is going to be a really good experience.

"I am also looking forward to playing in Latvia in April as I have never been there either."
