THE GALLANT Basingstoke Bison put up a brave fight on Tuesday night, but two goals in the final six minutes of the game saw the Coventry Blaze add the British Knockout Cup to their league championship crown with a 6-2 victory for an 8-6 aggregate win.

The Herd, leading by two goals from the first-leg, got off to a dream start as man-of-the-match Greg Chambers scored after 51 seconds, but goals from Coventry's Sylvain Cloutier and Dan Carlson narrowed the advantage by the first break.

The only goal of the second session saw Brad Cruikshank net, after a brilliant save from Curtis Cruickshank seconds earlier.

The final period saw the Blaze offence really on fire as Danny Stewart and Adam Calder made the scores level on aggregate.

Man-of-the-match Carlson then gave Coventry the lead overall at 54:37 and Curtis Huppe then netted the insurance goal two minutes, later The Bison never gave-up, but were unable to find a way back in the closing minutes.
