THE point-to-point course at Hackwood Park has been improved ahead of this season's three fixtures.
Clerk of the course Bill Welling believes trainers and riders will notice the beneficial changes.
There is a good covering of grass and the second fence, which had caused problems, is now two metres wider.
"Our fence builder, Ken Freeman, has reconstructed the open ditch in the home straight," said Welling. "All the fences are now exactly 4ft 5in high."
Both bends are now equipped with plastic rails that came from Fontwell Park racecourse.
The local season opens with the traditional Easter Vine and Craven fixture next Monday (2pm) and that is followed by the Hampshire Hunt meeting on Sunday, April 6, and the Hursley Hambledon's return to Hampshire on Monday, May 5, after a lengthy period in Dorset.
