RYAN Sutton and Jay King are the latest players to re-sign for the Basingstoke Bison for the forthcoming campaign.

Popular British forward Sutton is back for a sixth year with the Herd, having made his debut in season 2011/12.

The 27-year-old was born in Basingstoke and came through the junior ranks at the club.

He was part of the Bison’s championship winning sides of 2015/16 and again in 2017/18.

Sutton has played all his hockey in Basingstoke apart from one campaign in Canada and a single season at Bracknell four years ago.

Last term he collected nine points and is a player who works hard every shift he is on the ice.

Scottish defenceman Jay King returns for a fourth year for the Bison.

The fans’ favourite was born in Edinburgh and spent his entire career there until he joined the Herd.

This included four years playing in the Elite League for the Edinburgh Capitals.

King moved south to the Bison in 2018 and has become a key member of their blue line brigade.

Bison head coach Ashley Tait is delighted to have Sutton and King back for another season and said: “Sutts obviously did not have his best season last year and is very keen to put that right this time around.

“Kinger has been at the club ever since I have been in Basingstoke and he has got better every year. I am looking for him to take on even more responsibility this season.”
