THE Basingstoke Bison wrapped up their regular season with a double loss as they went down 3-2 after overtime at home to Leeds and then lost 8-2 in Slough to the Bees.

The Herd were minus Ashley Tait, Adam Harding and Cain Russell for both matches and in addition were without Adam Jones for the Bees game.

On Saturday night against Leeds, the Bison took the lead in the sixth minute shorthanded from Zack Milton, as he netted a long clearance from Alex Roberts.

The home side doubled their lead with 42 seconds left in the period as Aidan Doughty and Milton combined for Roberts to score.

The visitors took just 25 seconds of the second session to cut the lead from man of the match Adam Barnes.

The score remained 2-1 going into the final two minutes of the game.

At this point Leeds pulled their netminder and Barnes forced home the equaliser with 18 seconds left to send the game into overtime.

After Roberts had a couple of chances for the Herd, it was left to Cole Shudra to strike the winner at 63:30.

Man of the match for the Bison against Leeds was Liam Morris.

On Sunday night in Slough, the Bison were no match for their local rivals who knew a win would secure them a play-off spot.

The Bees cruised to a 5-0 lead by the first break with Dominik Gabaj helping himself to a hat-trick.

The other two goals came from Alan Lack and Juha Lindgren.

In the middle period, Josh Smith added a sixth goal, before man of the match Milton opened the Bison account.

Ryan Webb then made it 7-1 going into the final 20 minutes.

Just nine seconds after the interval Roberts netted the Herd’s second, before Bees man of the match Gabaj slotted home his fourth of the night to complete the 8-2 victory.

Last Saturday, the Buffalo were narrowly beaten 6-5 at Chelmsford Warriors with the game winner coming inside the final three minutes.

Sam Brooks led the way with a hat-trick with the other goals coming from Scott Anda and Sam Dollin.
