BASINGSTOKE Bison forward Sam Talbot, on loan to the Slough Jets, netted his second hat-trick of the season last weekend.

This helped the Berkshire outfit to a 7-4 win over the visiting Haringey Huskies in their Ruggedstock Cup opener.

Talbot was one of four Herd loan players to suit up for the Jets, the other three being Sean Norris, Brendan Baird and Aidan Doughty.

In fact, it was Doughty who opened the scoring with a powerplay goal after just 25 seconds, as he finished off a move which involved fellow Bison stars Norris and Baird. Talbot then doubled the advantage at 8:59, as he slotted home a pass from Norris.

However, a pair of goals from Haringey’s Stephen Woodford levelled the game at the first break. The Huskies then took the lead from Nathan Pollard and James Pentecost made it 4-2 at 36:51.

The home side pulled themselves back into the contest with a goal from Daniel Rose assisted by Talbot and Baird, one second before the second period buzzer.

The Jets flew out of the blocks in the final session, as after just 14 seconds, Norris scored from Talbot to make it 4-4.

Slough then dominated the rest of the game with three unanswered goals. The first two came off the stick of Talbot, as he completed his treble for the night and on his hat-trick strike Norris picked up a helper.it was left to Doughty to complete the scoring at 59:44 from Rose and Baird.

Slough will be looking for a quick double over the Huskies when they travel to Alexandra Palace on Sunday.
