THE ground grading of the Winklebury Stadium took place this afternoon but was not approved.

The FA found a few adjustments were required before Basingstoke Town Football Club will be able to play its first match back in the town since being evicted from the Camrose in 2019.

In a statement on its website, Basingstoke Town said: "Following a thorough inspection of the facility, it was judged that there are a couple of minor adjustments to be made before it can be passed."

The club say plans have already been put in place to ensure the adjustments can be made before the new deadline of Friday, October 16.

If the ground is then approved, Basingstoke Town will be play their first home on October 24, against AFC Totton.

Chairman Terry Brown and members of the league and Hampshire FA were present at the grading.
