Hartley Wintney served up a goal fest with Hampton and Richmond in the latest of their pre-season matches. The game was open, and a thoroughly entertaining encounter saw many chances at both ends of the field.

It was the visitors who drew first blood on four minutes when the dangerous Ryan Hill finished off a good left wing move (0-1)

The Row responded and pulled level on 11 minutes. Steven Duff and Sam Argent made good progress down the left and fed Mitch Parker. The striker was felled and a penalty awarded. Parker took the kick himself and scored. (1-1)

Just four minutes later the Row took the lead with the best goal of the match. A move down the left saw the Trialist defender feed Mitchell Parker in space and the striker crashed in a powerful shot off the underside of the crossbar. (2-1)

On 29 minutes the elusive Hill got free in the Hartley area before being brought down. Sam Deadfield converted the resulting penalty.(2-2)

Sam Argent had several efforts which brought out good saves from the Beavers Trialist goalkeeper. However he was unable to do much about a powerful header from Matt Drage following a corner from Dean Stow. (3-2)

The match continued to be very open and it was the Beavers who were next to record a goal on 53 minutes. Some loose play in the Row defence saw Danny Bassett gain possession and he ran through to score. (3-3)

Hartley responded and three minutes later Mitch Parker completed his hat trick. Gathering the ball on the right he cut in and scored through several Beavers players on the goal line (4-3).

Both sides came close to adding to the scoresheet before the Row stretched the lead. Good play down the right gave Ben Wright a chance. The strikers shot was blocked and Josh Webb was on hand to score from close range. (5-3)

However it was the Beavers who had the last word two minutes later. A cross from the left was smashed into the net by Christian Smith off a Row defender. (5-4)

The entertainment continued to the end keeping the 120 attendance happy.
