MICHAEL Obafemi's revealed the piece of advice that led to his last-minute Old Trafford equaliser.

Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl told the youngster to arrive at the back post to boost his chances of scoring - and it paid off in style.

Obafemi was able to bundle home James Ward-Prowse's corner after Jan Bednarek flicked it on.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the striker said: “He [Hasenhuttl] told me what to do. He told me to get to the back post, and I got there and I scored the goal.

“It’s what I’m here to do, to score goals and thankfully, I got the equaliser.”

Obafemi also claimed that his Old Trafford strike makes up for the time he wasn't able to play at the Theatre of Dreams when he was playing for Saints' youngsters.

"Yeah, it’s amazing. I was meant to play here for the U18s in the Youth Cup, but sadly I missed it," the 19-year-old reflected. "This is an even better occasion to score on.

“Yeah, it’s amazing. The boys dug deep. We went 1-0 and we did well to come back in the game.”

Obafemi added: “We’ve picked up amazing results ever since the restart. We look to finish the season strong.

"We go into any game thinking we can get three points.”
