The Basingstoke and District Badminton League Committee have decided to suspend the next two weeks fixtures from the week commencing March 16 due to the coronavirus.

They are also looking to cancel the Basingstoke and District Badminton League’s Open Tournament which is scheduled for the beginning of next month on Sunday, April 5.

However, last week there was plenty of league action which was played before the league's suspension.

St Marys returned to the top of Mixed Division One following a 7-2 in over Beechdown A.

A hat-trick from Gareth Jones and Janine Fisher plus doubles from Michael Nash and Hayley Burger and from Matthew Benians and Nicola Smith saw St Marys home.

Hard earned three end singles from Peter Leeds and Lisa Moran and from Simon Hughes and Nikki Acton gave Beechdown A their two points.

Waverley A edged out Aldermaston 5-4 to move level on points with second placed Viking A.

A hat-trick from Peter Bevell and Gina Rapacioli and a double from Sam Kersley and Emma James earned the win for Waverley A.

Each of the Aldermaston pairs won a single rubber plus a concession.

Leaders BH Pegasus continued their unbeaten run with two more 9-0 wins, over Beechdown C and Viking B respectively.

Double hat-tricks from Rob Clayburn and Preow Chanpeng, Ryan Doe and Theresa Simmonds and from Kevin Harris and Rebecca Butterfield earned BH Pegasus 18 points.

Their latest tally means the side have now taken 62 points out of a possible 63.

The double victory also saw 17 point lead over Waverley B at the top of Mixed Division Two.

Waverley B beat a two pair Beechdown C 9-0, with Phil Hood, Heather Mountford, Adam Hood, Gill Trimmer, Ian Aherne and Jane Vickers all unbeaten.

Andover A moved 24 points clear of the relegation places in Open Division One following a 6-3 victory over Hurst A.

A hat-trick from Chris Clarke and Keith Miles and a double from Joe Li and Tim Hunt underpinned the Andover A victory.

A double from Stephen Lambe and David Irvine top scored for Hurst B.

Bottom side B Beechdown C beat a two pair Andover B side 5-4 to register their win of the campaign in Open Division Three.

Peter Sellers and Geoff Lewis notched a hat-trick from Andover B, but they were unable to shrug off the handicap of not having a third pair.

Andover Ladies A did their Ladies 4 League title challenge no harm with a 6-0 win over a three player Phoenix side.

The Ladies now sit five points behind leaders Viking with a game in hand.
