ODIHAM teenage ice hockey star Emily Harris will be hoping to fire Great Britain to World Championship success.

The forward was Great Britain's leading scorer in the recent 4Nations success when she scored five times in four games for her country.

The teenager will hope to keep up this impressive record as part of the Great Britain under-18 women’s heading to Poland for the Under-18 Women’s World Championship Division One Group B tournament.

The International Ice Hockey Federation tournament, runs from January 2 to January 8 and takes place at the Janow Arena in Katowice.

Great Britain come up against hosts Poland, along with Austria, China, Korea and Norway.

Looking ahead to the tournament head coach, Cheryl Smith, said: “We won a fantastic bronze last year in the World Championship, so we want to build on that. Many of the player return this year.

“We will take great heart from winning the 4Nations in Dumfries, not just the results but the way we grew as a team the longer the tournament went on.”
