THE popular Annual Simultaneous display will once again take place on Saturday 16th December’19 at the Discovery Centre in the Town Centre. This year Steven Jones will do the honours and take on a number of players simultaneously.

Jones has had considerable success this year including winning the Weekend Open at the Olympia London Classic with 4 ½ points out of five.
The competition included many very highly ranked players including International Chess Masters and also FIDE Chess Masters.
Basingstoke Chess Club teams maintained their good start to the season.
The Borders League A team beat Camberley A with wins from Jamie Chilton and Mo Negargar plus draws from Liam Blanc and Raja Pentakota.
The Southampton League Division team secured a good 3-1 win at erstwhile table leaders Salisbury C. Barry Kocan and Adam Matthews recorded wins while Shwetal Bhatt and Peter Beldaus gained draws
