HAYES and Yeading United recorded a resounding win at Hartley Wintney after scoring five unopposed first half goals.

United started brightly and on two minutes came close to opening the scoring. Omar Rowe showed good pace down the right and his cross to the edge of the box saw Scott Donnelly shoot just wide.

The visitors continued to threaten and opened the scoring on five minutes. Jack Williams crossed and Rowe was in the right spot to fire home across Row keeper Luke Williams.

The visitors were dominant and added a second on 13 minutes. Rowe showed good skill to create space on the right side of the penalty box and his cross was stabbed home at close range by Hassn Jalloh.

Omar Rowe was a constant threat for H&Y with his speed and trickery.

On 21 minutes a corner from Donnelly saw United go close when a Liam McDevitt header was off target.

A third goal arrived on 24 minutes. A long clearance eluded the Row defence and Elliott Buchanan ran through before rounding Row keeper Luke Williams and shooting home.

Hartley’s first chance arrived on 31 minutes via a Ty Smith corner. Adam Cornell managed a header but United keeper Jack Smith saved well. Play moved to the other end and Luke Williams dis well to thwart an effort from Jalloh.

After 35 minutes some loose play in midfield by Hartley saw a pass through to Buchanan who lobbed the ball over Williams for number four.

With the visitors dominating it came as no surprise when a fifth goal was added on 45 minutes. A slick move around the Row penalty area fashioned a chance for Jalloh who fired home from close range.

Hartley improved greatly after the interval and were unlucky not to pull a goal back on 46 minutes.

A corner from Josh Webb found Adam Cornell who headed against the crossbar. The Row persevered and pulled a goal back on 56 minutes.

Tom Bird supplied lively substitute Reece Miller who showed good skill to wrong foot two defenders and shoot home.

United moved into consolidation mode and held on for a good win with an impressive performance. For Hartley they are having a poor run of results at present and will be looking to getting back to winning ways on Tuesday night’s trip to Weston Super Mare.

Manager Anthony Millerick said: “We were well beaten today by a very good Hayes and Yeading side.

Their first half performance was the best we have seen from any team this season.

“Much as Hayes and Yeading were good we were poor in the first period. I felt we were far too passive before the interval.

“We came back well in the second half which was pleasing. However, the game was well beyond us by then. Reece Miller did well when he came on and scored a good goal. Reece joins us on loan for a month from Aldershot.”

“All in all a bad day at the Office. “
