RALPH Hasenhuttl believes the international break gave Saints the opportunity to stamp out the mistakes they’ve been making in recent weeks.

The St Mary’s side have lost three Premier League games on the bounce ahead of tomorrow’s match with Wolves.

But with Hasenhuttl putting his players through the wringer during the time off, he is hoping to get a reaction from them at Molineux.

Saints’ boss said: “I think the good thing was that we had a lot of players here and not so many players away which gave me the chance to work with them on a few weaknesses in our game from the last two games.

“The big teams show you immediately the lack of quality you have in some situations and the biggest issue we had was after losing the ball the transition to defence wasn’t quick enough.

“That’s the reason why we conceded more goals than normal. Mistakes happen in every game, but the big difference is that we are the team with the most ball wins in the other half.

“But when you win the ball against the big teams like Chelsea it turned into an immediate goal.

“We must defend better when you lose the ball, and this is something we’ve been working on for the last two weeks.

“We worked on our defensive stability and our work against the ball which we will need at the weekend.”

After winning their previous three matches, Wolves will be expected to see off Saints at Molineux tomorrow afternoon.

Their last outing before the international break saw them shock the Premier League champions, Manchester City, with a 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium.

Like Hasenhuttl has done with Saints, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo likes to play an aggressive style of football with a blend of youngsters.

He added: “I think it’s a very good organised team who has their biggest quality in counter-attacks.

“They showed it against Manchester City. They are organised in defence which means you get less time and space to create chances.

“Last season at home we played a very good game, although we didn’t have a lot of ball possession, they also like to have space for counter-attacks.

“They aren’t really a team that likes to be in possession. It will be an interesting game because both teams have a good offensive transition.

“You have to pay attention if you lose the ball because that’s the most dangerous thing.”
