THE Ladies of Basingstoke Town Bowling Club have won the Gazette Cup for the second time in the last four years, writes MARYANN CHADWICK.

This season they beat Yateley, Alton Social and Cove before beating St Mary Bourne in the final.

In one of the clubs most successful seasons to date, the Ladies also won the Whitchurch League, Basingstoke and District Bowling Association and North Hants Women’s Bowling Association and the men’s and mixed teams also had winning teams in the Whitchurch, BDBA competitions as well as being crowned champions in the Hants and Berks Cup.

The club has also performed well in various leagues winning the BDBA rinks league and runners up in the BDBA triples league. Spades won the Whitchurch Division One Triples League whilst the Jokers gained promotion to Division One, joining Spades and Diamonds.

The thriving and friendly club welcomes all members of the community, both new and experienced bowlers, at this thriving and friendly club.

Having recently been supported by grant funding from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, the club are currently developing their clubhouse and changing rooms to enable access for wheelchair users and those with other disabilities. Access to the green will also be improved.

During the winter months we have social evenings and would encourage anyone interested in trying their hand at bowling or just becoming a social member to email the club at secretarybtbc@outlook.com or contact Maryann on 07765134503 for further information.
