The Basingstoke Angling Championships took place over five venues last Sunday, the teams of five event attracted a field of 65 anglers with thirteen anglers on each lake namely Willow Pool, Whitehouse Lake, Old Barlows Lake, New Barlows Lake and Soke Road Lake.

Whitehouse Lake saw Darren Wright of Adventure South top out with 67lb 13oz, Andy Wicks of Staceys A caught 49lb 1oz.

Old Barlows Lake gave Robin Guppy of Adventure North the win with 26lb 8oz, Graham Spiller of Adventure South caught 18lb 14oz.

New Barlows Lake put Darren Goddard of Camrose White on top with 43lb 2oz followed by Kennet Ospreys Andre Grandjean with 26lb 4oz.

Rob Carr (Superstar) of Basingstoke Railway Club succeeded at Soke Road Lake netting 39lb 8oz followed by Adventure North’s Mike Allen with 35lb 12oz.

Adventure North’s Steve Hunt won at Willow Pool with 49lb 8oz followed by Peter Fincham of Adventure East on 39lb.

The overall result was a win for Adventure North with 57 points, Adventure South totalled 48 points for second spot, Kennet Osprey made 47 points for third place, Adventure West had 40 points followed by Camrose Red with 38 points, Camrose Blue 35 1/2 points, Adventure East 35 points, Basingstoke Railway Club 32 points, Staceys Match Group A 32 points, Staceys Match Group B and Camrose White 24 points, Basingstoke Railway Club B 20 points and Oxiod AC 17 1/2 points.

Thanks must go to the barbecue staff, Lyn and Trevor Matthews, Simon Kiefer and Andy Wicks, raffle maestro Paul (The Enforcer) Follington and Chris Barratt, Tadley Angling and the

contestants for their raffle donations, and of course Staceys Supremo Keith Brown who oversaw the whole operation that raised £1659.18 to go with the £2127.31 that had been raised previously. All monies will be for the benefit of St Michaels Hospice, a worthy cause indeed.
