HARTLEY Wintney were given the honour of being the first visitors to Horsham Football Clubs new Stadium - the impressive Camping World Community Stadium and they also failed to spoil the celebrations as the home side won 4-1.

The home side’s Dillon Marchant wrote his name into the history books by scoring the first goal at the new ground with a 25-yard strike after 27 minutes.

Hartley levelled things on 28 minutes as Steven Duff’s cross was swept home by Tayo Oyebola.

After the interval, Horsham scored three times to make sure of the victory and Hartley also had Matt Drage sent-off.

Hartley manager Anthony Millerick said: “This was an eye opener. There was a lack of cohesion and we were complacent at times “We have a lot to do to improve before the season starts.

“I thought the only positive was that when we were down to 10 men we played well.

“Horsham are a good team and of course this was a big occasion for them They should do well.”

On Thursday night, Hartley won at Farnham Town 4-2, thanks to Alex Albert, Josh Webb, a Mitch Parker penalty and Oyebalo.

Hartley are in action again on Saturday with a trip to Baffins Milton Rovers.
