OAKLEY chairman, Bob Lethaby, rolled back the years and booked his place in the club record books with a remarkable spell of bowling last Sunday.

In just five overs of mayhem, Lethaby took six Eversley wickets including four ducks and a hat-trick as extraordinary scenes unfolded at Oakley Park.

An unconventional spin bowler, he Oakley has created his own catalogue deliveries to trick batsmen.

These include ‘the pie’, ‘the worm burner’ and the ‘what on earth was that?’

He used them all to great effect on Sunday as he finished with 6-22.

To prove that cricket rarely provides a Hollywood ending, Lethaby got a duck when Oakley batted and they lost by 30 runs.

Last Saturday, the Oakley first team maintained top spot in the Hampshire County Division Three North, after a crushing home 178-run win over Petersfield.

The home side scored 294-7 as Elliott Hennessey (67) and Dan Sumner (54).
