AFTER only two years the Basingstoke Phoenix Floorball Team made the finals of the under-16 National Floorball Championships in Cheltenham.

After winning all three group games they proceeded to the semi-finals against West Meon which they played a fantastic game winning 5-0. After a good team talk from their coach Paul Rixon the team went into the final with an open mind and happy with their achievements so far.

Sadly, they lost the final 3-0 to London Capitals but did put up a fight.

The team is run by the Rixon family Paul, Charlie and Imi and made up of children from The Costello School, Ellie and William Rixon, Jack and Harry Rushbrook, Jacob Thatcher, Alexx Feast, Rhys Evans, Spencer Paine, Ollie Whatley and Seb Jones, Hurst’s Ollie Monger, All Hallows’ Katie Simmons, Toynbee School’s Elise and Linus Lofnertz and Alvin Lofnertz from Fryern Junior School.

If interested in joining the team, training is on a Friday evening at The Costello School sports hall from 6 to 7pm, or contact them through their Facebook page: Basingstoke Phoenix Floorball Club.
