A WONDERFUL performance in the field from Oakley smashed the unbeaten record of top side RAM side as they moved up to second spot in the Hampshire League County Three North at Oakley Park yesterday.

In shocking conditions where the game was always under threat, the Oaks bowlers adapted to the weather better than their opponents did with the bat.

RAM were soon in trouble at 28-4 as Tom Barnes (2) and Brad Compton-Bearne (1) plus a run-out did the damage.

The leaders hit back with a 95 partnership, but were then went from 123-4 to141 all out thanks to Ronnie McCewan (4-29) and Alex Brundle (2-42).

Because of the weather, the target was set at 108 off 28 overs and their reply was built around Elliot Hennessey's excellent 71 not out with Alan North finished the job by pulling a huge six in the direction of the car park.

It was just a shame that a rain affected game meant only 19 points, despite an eight wicket victory.

This hardly seems fair but rules are rules.

In the same division, Overton (90) lost by 64 runs to Petersfield and Ramsdell (141-9) lost by nine wickets at Sparsholt II.

In County Division Two, Kyran Munt had a great day with bat and ball as took 3-29 as Bishop's Waltham were bowled out for 108 and then scored 57 not out in Odiham and Greywell's 109-4.

Basingstoke and North Hants III (155-7) lost by nine wickets at South Wilts III.
